I like my Costco Amex because it is this weird blue-green color that sort of changes color when moved. I think Costco wanted that not just to standout but also to make it easier for members to find the card in their wallet. They have more trouble with that then you would think…

Majority of cards with amex are charge cards, which requires payment in full unless (sign & travel) option is rqstd. There are however a couple of products with revolving credit lines, the optima, blue etc. As for that Gold Bullion comment, DUDE! get a life…

How is it that most of these people spend that kind of money, and cannot afford a decent camera?

I like my green amex, when you hold it to the light it looks like trees in the park, which makes me feel good. Like promoting global cooling rather than global warming everyone is talking about. If my card was black it would probably get hot in the sun and add to the pollution in this world….I guess you could scratch the black paint off?

1. Not all regions have upgraded to Titanium yet.
2. Only the primary card holder get titanium in markets that have upgraded. Supp card holders get the cheap plastic.

Not true. I’m a Centurion holder and both my additional cardholders received Titanium cards. There are no more plastic Centurion cards being issued in the U.S.

AMEX plum 2% cash back on all purchases …. I like it

I reckon that whether you get a plastic or titanium one depends on your spend level and like the criteria for being offered centurion, this is known only to them

At one point in history, it was considered by many to be a sign of low social stature to use a credit or charge card to make a purchase - the capable used hard currency, while the working class chose to “charge it.”

Today we see a different landscape of credit purchases spurred by incentives, with the stigmas shunned for the benefits that using said cards offer. Many of these American Express pioneered, but I have to ask whether or not we’re further ahead now that we live in a society of credit? Sure the black card may open doors, or get your a concierge to book reservations that you could otherwise do yourself, but what are the consequences on our economy? (an economy of credit)

I say there’s no greater sign of affluence than to be able to pay for something in cash - we’ve all been had by the marketing, the image that you’ve bought into through the high yearly fees and the initiation fees, you’re part of an exclusive club where the joke is truly on you. Keep making American Express rich, and help us perpetuate this culture of credit, will you?

It´s true regarding ICC Centurion Cards.
Titanium Card is handmade.

Haha, titanium card is not handmade. The company I work for issues titanium amex cards to over 700 executives in north America alone. We ordered 300 cards last month. On average 1 card is lost a week and quickly replaced. The black amex is quickly losing its status as “elete” Any business can get these and issue them at will. And you dont even have to be invited, spend over 250k a year and just call and they give them to you. 250k a year for most businesses is chump change. Thats like the monthly electric bill where I work.
