Platinum Credit Card

Number of Centurion Cards Outside the US

Here is a rough number of Centurion cards issued outside of the US (which has the largest number issued):

- UK 18,500
- Germany 10,500
- Switzerland 2,800
- France 1,500
- Italy, Spain, Sweden, Netherlands 4,500
- Israel 800
- Saudi Arabia 1,000
- Middle East (others) 500
- Hong-Kong 13,500
- Singapore 1,300
- Australia 6,000

EDIT- These numbers were deduced from the number of Centurion magazine subscribers, since no one should be receiving the magazine that isn’t a Centurion member. Here is a press kit for the magazine ad sales for Europe and Asia. Again, I say these are rough numbers since the number of cardholders should be the same as the number of magazine subscribers.

Just curious, how did you obtain those numbers? Also, do you know the number for Denmark?

I updated the post with where the info came from. I should have done that in the first place sorry. As you can tell from the data, it doesn’t mention specifically what the circulation for Denmark is. If I find out, I will post it.

The “Europe” link doesn’t seem to be working. Excellent inormation b.t.w.

I fixed it, thanks for pointing that out

My guess is that these numbers better reflect the number of PRIMARY cardholders in the respective countries, not the TOTAL number. I don’t know how it works in other places, but in the U.S. only the Primary cardholder is sent the Centurion magazine, not additional cardholders. Just keep that in mind…

Wow, this is great! Lots of interesting info and facts. Thanks for posting this!
If you go down to p.15, you can find readers’ survey: their incomes, spending habits, etc. Maybe you should post some of that on your blog, too.
But honestly I started laughing after reading that 19% of Centurion readers clip articles/ads from the magazine. Somehow, I cannot imagine people with a disposable monthly income of 8,800 euros doing that.

You need to remember that the requirements and benefits for Centurion cards outside of the US are significantly different, as well as easier to afford and obtain. For example, in the UK there is no $250k requirement (it can be much less), the annual fee is less, there is no initiation fee, and the benefits are worse. Although it still is a UK Centurion card, I think the US personal (not small business) version of the card has the most prestige and is the most highly sought after.

You also have to remember that there are AMEX Cent Members that choose to drop out of marketing campings at the Black Ink is one of them that they drop out of.

On page 6 you are able to see a break down for the four countries:

Italy - 1,620
Spain - 945
Netherlands - 1485
Sweden - 450
Total: 4,500
