Guy Thinks He Got Centurion Invitation

Saw this posted on Flyertalk.com, pretty comical.  Some radio disc jockey thought he got an invitation from Amex for a black card.  He didn’t realize that it was really from Visa and that everything he said about the card doesn’t pertain at all to Visa.

That’s hysterical. The Visa Black Card is a joke. I got it when it first came out thinking I would use it at merchants which didn’t take amex…and that’s all it’s good for. You can’t even compare it to the Centurion Card. The Carbon Graphite feels no different than a regular card.

What’s so impressive about centurion is that they built their reputation and following without and advertising. All of their marketing is inbound and exclusive. Visa Black puts out these rediculous adds raving about how exclusive the card is. The only thing deciding whether someone gets it or not is whether they can pay the $500 card fee. Everything about it is designed to falsely boost the ego of the card holder. With centurion the whole appeal is the myth turned reality story behind it. Visa Black is ruining that. Give it up.

EPIC FAIL

What still confuses me is which of the Visa products is more exclusive? The new Visa “black card” or the Visa signature card, which like AmEx charge cards, has no pre-set spending limit (last I heard). Anyone know? Doesn’t the Visa black card have a limit?

That is hilarious, but on a serious note I think American Express has to do something about the Visa destroying their most exclusive brand. I got my AMEX black card last week and when I actually got a comment from someone who thought my card was a ripoff of the visa black card.

i dont think any of the generic visa cards are that exclusive, you would need one of the bank visa cards, like the Citibank Ultima, Merrill +, ones liek that, and all the cards (even visa black/amex black) have limits, they are just very very high normally, although in a few reviews of the visa black the limits can be very low, its not an exclusive card at all, they gave it to some guy making only 10k a year with a VERY low credit score…and like a $1k limit i think.

That was hilarious, especially when his sidekicks panned him. I finally decided to get the AmEx Platinum for the sole purpose of one day getting the Black which I’ll probably qualify for in the next couple years. Funny I never thought $450 was worth it for a card, but I’d gladly pay $5000 plus $2500 per year for the Black. Then everyone can kiss my Black card as I drive my Black AMG LOL

I dont think the card that the other guy held up is even the visa black card haha. I think the really exclusive visa black card is the visa infinite card. Its somewhat like amex black but on a smaller scale. Its not really advertised a whole lot though I think

Visa Black does have a spending limit, My credit score is above 800 and net worth in the 8 figures and they gave me a credit limit of $20k. I spent over 20 almost every month on the amex alone. Amex should just squash Visa black. Barclays Delaware isn’t that big a bank. There goal is just to get as many $500 annual fees as possible while simultaneously spending as little money as possible on their customers. I could saw the Visa black in half with my centurion lol.

The Visa Signature is the top card in the Visa line. But like “colin” said, it also depends on which investment bank gave you that card.

I have the feeling the Visa ‘Infinite’ is their most exclusive card. It can have no spending limit, a minimum limit of $20k. Looks okay. Visa Black is more of an “I’m cool” card, rather than exclusive.

lol, this guys an idiot. what visa is doing really sucks though. i too have gotten comments about my black amex and people asking if it was a visa rip. then again, i debated whether or not to sell my aston martin because my gf’s mom asked me if it was the new chrysler. lol.

hi eveyone

i guess that your are quite right regarding the comparaison between the Centurion and the Infinite.
I am 23 and i am personaly a visa Infinite holder and i also have a Amex platinium and both cards have different use the infinite will allow you to withdrawl up to 10 000euros in any atm of your bank instead of the Amex platinium will let you pay up to 75 OOOeuros. but to be very honnest with you at my age and because i am a student i don’t really see the means of his two cards. i’m glad to hold them but right now i am not reaching the limit every months and it will not happened very soon
