Visa Black Card

Ever Seen An Amex Under A Black Light?

Have you ever looked at an Amex card under a black light?  One of our readers was at a nightclub the other week and used his Amex Platinum card, and apparently noticed hidden images on his card when seen under a black light.  This is pretty neat!  I am going to have to try and look at my Centurion under a black light and see what it looks like.

Sweet!!

It’s a chick magnet!

Visa Black has a V that glows under black light as well, right in the middle of the VISA in the bottom right corner. I haven’t tried it on my centurion yet. How do reader’s send in pictures? I’m signed up for the RSS feed but I don’t see anyway to set up an account.

you can email them to me at info at blackcardsource.com

I’ve emailed you a picture of my gold card and it fluoresces also. I checked my Platinum and it does also.

Jim

Man I have to try this with my plat and my new cent….this looks awesome!
By the way where can I send in tipps?

Love your Blog! Keep writing!

Many credit cards (Visa, MC, etc.) have done this for years as a security measure. IIRC, Visas have the dove logo and Mastercards have MC. In fact, fluorescent security measures are quite common. Try looking at your driver’s license, or even some of the newer currency (except $1 and $2 bills) under a black light, and see what happens.

On an unrelated note, I decided not to renew my Centurion Card this month. I’m just glad that the airline benefits don’t end until February, as those are the only benefits I ever used anyway.

sweet! i gotta go get a blacklight and check out my plat….

KM-Congratulations on not renewing your Centurion. My wife and I are $4k richer this year as we decided to do the same and scale it back to the Platinum Card. A very pleasant surprise when I too learned of the automatic airline medallion renewal. I acutally called each of the airlines to confirm this and they were all VERY happy to have us “continue to fly with them”…Virgin actually gave us each a free companion ticket and extended the membership thru the end of June 2010. Whats even better is when I contacted the 800# on the back of my Platinum Card to make a travel reservation I was given the option to enter my 5 digit extension of my travel counselor. Much to my delight I was connected to my “previous” assigned Centurion travel counselor who informed me that he would be more than happy to continue working with me as we have a developed a nice repoir (Spelling?) over the past 2 years.

Last night we dined at a restaurant and had the Platinum concierge make our reservation. The server comp’d us an appetizer and said it was from “your concierge”. Funny because I never ever once received any special treatment from a restaurant with my Centurion Card/concierge…Regardless, its nice to know that after the medallions expire next year the airlines will sell them for a lot less than the cost of Centurion Card. Now that I have “lowered” my expectations of Amex, I am much happier with them. The Platinum Card is the little brother but combine it with an airline medallion and you’re just about in the Black.

Seth - Good for you. At this point in my life (and with the economy), the Centurion Card just isn’t worth it. The airline benefits are really the only reason to have the card in my opinion. I’ve successfully received free upgrades to First/Business on more occasions than I can count this year because of my status with Centurion. That is something I will surely miss. That’s funny about the free appetizer… I was always wholeheartedly disappointed with Centurion concierge. I always ended up having to do things myself through my own connections. I guess I will give Platinum dining a shot.

Well, i can confirm this blacklight logo is on all Amex cards, with the exception of the clear blue. It does have one, just slightly different because of the blue box in the middle (then again, this might be different for american ones.)

Confirmed….

Not that I doubted the authenticity of this post, but I just had to try it out meself and it’s too cool! I want to try it with my Green and Gold cards for the heck of it too. Neat find really.

Think you mean UV light don’t you?

I’ll have to try with my plat amex credit card

What happened to our ADMIN??? Going on a month without any new updates? These comments are getting stale..Are you that tired of the card already???

Admin is probably too busy availing himself of the benefits.
