Centurion Card Demographics

Ever wonder who actually has a black card? Luckily for us, a 2007 survey to European cardholders can give us an idea of who actually has one.

This is how amex describes their centurion members :

Centurion readers are super-affluent high net worth individuals on a continual quest for the best and most exclusive. They own companies and frequently travel; they define success. Exceptionally discerning and style-conscious, Centurion readers are global players who gain truly worldwide access to the inaccessible. They do not compromise and expect only the highest level of personal commitment from those around them: individually tailored service, unlimited financial power, exclusive travel benefits, global access and influence.

Centurion is more than just a Card: it’s a global community of the highest earners and spenders on the market. To receive Centurion Magazine, one must be a Centurion Member from American Express: an individual who can afford virtually anything. The card itself is the
world’s most exclusive, offered by invitation only and at a high annual fee.

Now that we know how they are described, here is there actual demographic profile, based on 2007 survey results.

There you have it, that is your average black card member. Keep in mind, these are 2007 survey results from European cardmembers. However, I would think the US members, roughly ~20,000, would be very similar on average.

Wow I thought these numbers would be higher. Like mid 7-fig income, 8-fig net worth, 30-40k monthly spending.

I’m a black card holder (USA) that doesn’t fit that survey at all, except in some minor areas. I’m much younger (20’s), with income much lower (but still 6 figure), I do own a business, but my monthly disposable income is much less than the average as well. I’ve been a Amex member for only 4 years and I use my card primarily for business. My business expenses are roughly $50k/month.

I’m sure there are vastly different people who own the card.

I am sure there are many people who do not meet the average as far as net worth, annual household income, and disposable income. These numbers are probably offset by a few of the wealthy individuals who carry black cards. They themselves throw off the average by earning WELL over the numbers listed, etc.

Right, like I said in the post these are pretty much averages, so of course there are people who do not meet this “mold”. Unfortunately I don’t have any medians, just averages.

Nice Post! Gratifying to know that I’m 30 years old, well below the average Centurion Card holder at 49. :)
Sincerely,
Amit

i have black card I am 18 I have no personal income. just because its a secondary wich would explain why your earn less then the demografic wich is impossible to earn less than they do and still be in the 6 figure beacuse they earn ($1.01M US dollars) so unless 10k is substancially less you are a lier

WOW!!!!

Re: BLK,

My question to you is if you have a centurion card or if your parrents have that much income why can you not compose a paragraph using the english language?

BLK is black he loves BET. He thinks all rappers are millionaire because of the ice around their necks. He also thinks he has Black Amex because someone hooked him up on Canal St.

Your powers of deduction sir, are simply extraordinary! You have managed to obtain not only someone’s ethic origin, but also their viewing habits, personal thoughts and opinions on subjects not mentioned, and what he has purchased and where. But reading only, his ill-constructed paragraph!

Let me attempt a little deduction of my own, (but of course nothing can rival YOUR awesome extra-sensory perception!)

You could be a insular, bigoted person, with petty thoughts on other peoples, and uses the anonymity of internet forums as a podium to promote them, in order to feel superior/better. May you continue your wonderful work!

Response comment to the gentleman above.

sounds like the gentleman everyone is talking about is just simply rushing his writing.
I deduce 2 things:-
(i) He does not care what we think
(ii)He could not be bothered to go back and correct his mistakes.

Either way he has a card and therefore I doubt he cares what we think.I also am interested in knowing what everyone here does for a living! I write books and produce DVD’s.

It’s a tough life but I make it work!
Can you invite someone to join the card?

Lets put aside the spelling/grammar errors with blk’s comment. The more important matter is his concept of mathmatics.

He/she managed to call another person a liar (or lier, as apparently thats how people spell it now) based on the fact that the statistic showed $1.01M but failed to realize that a million dollars would put someone in the (drumroll) 7 figure bracket and not 6. EA’s income could have been 500k which would indeed be substantially lower than the average.

Frank seems to give blk the benefit of the doubt by assuming
a) he truly has a card
..and b) blk actually realized his mistakes to be able to go back and correct
