Platinum Credit Card

Best Buy Jumps On Black Card Bandwagon

It became public today that Best Buy inadvertently sent out an email to a small group of rewards customers for their new “Premier Black” program. The new rewards program is will supposedly include access to a best buy concierge, exclusive shopping privileges and a little more. This is the email that went out:

Best Buy Premier Black Program

It makes me chuckle when I see companies trying to harness the pop culture power the Centurion brand has gained. But nothing made me laugh more than reading about the new bar in Arizona that opened, called Black Card Ultra Lounge.

Yep

Any company will try.

a lot of credit card firms are too.

For example I have a black Visa credit card and used to have a Platinum Morgan Stanley Credit Mastercard (which I recently got rid of because they sold their card business to a UK bank I hate dealing with), when I appplied I was given the option of selecting platinum or black and I chose black.

When the card arrived it had a reflective black plastic surface (maybe they were trying to capitlise on the AMEX black reputation).

I was curious so I got my concierge to call that club, they sent me a version of their own black card (made out of cheap metal) in a nifty fake leather wallet and a invite to the grand opening. Glad I skipped it, doesn’t look like I missed anything: http://www.blackcardscottsdale.com/Photos/Photos.aspx?id=10
